Chulie
de Silva holds a MSc.in Information and Library Science (
with Distinction) from the Loughborough University, U.K. She
is the Vice President of the Lanka Academic Network (LAcNet),
and the Project Co-ordinator for LAcNet's Pilot Computer Project
at a rural high school, Nivaththaka Chethiya School in Anuradhapura
, Sri Lanka. LAcNet (www.lacnet.org) is a non-profit organization,
founded in June 1991 to improve and develop electronic communication
within and outside Sri Lanka. LAcNet is a virtual community
of volunteer academics, dedicated to enhancing educational
facilities and opportunities in Sri Lanka and also to disseminating
information on and of interest to Sri Lanka.

Her training courses have focused on the use of Information
Communication Technologies for business communities, information
management and community development. However, the use of
Internet for community development in South Asia holds a special
interest for her. She believes that development activities
and advocacy efforts in the South Asian region would gain
immensely by using the Internet to establish effective networks
aimed at maximizing community efforts by sharing best practices

Shahidul
Alam, born in 1955 in Dhaka. Studied and taught chemistry
in London where he obtained a PhD from London University.
Started photography in 1980 while hitch hiking through the
USA and Canada. Nominated the best photographer of the year
by the London Arts Council in 1983. Started working as a commercial
and advertising photographer in Dhaka in 1984. Became the
president of the Bangladesh Photographic Society in 1989.
Started documenting the popular resistance against autocratic
president General Ershad since 1987, which won him the Mother
Jones Award in 1992. Founded Drik
Picture Library in 1989, the Bangladesh Photographic Institute
in 1990, Pathshala,
The South Asian Institute of Photography in 1998, Meghbarta,
Bangladesh’s first webzine in 1999, Chobi
Mela, the first festival of photography in Asia in 2000
and Bangladesh
Human Rights Network in 2001. Widely published and exhibited.
Jury member of numerous international photographic competitions
including World Press Photo where he has been a judge on three
occasions. Awarded the Andrea Frank Foundation Award and the
Howard Chapnick Award in 1998. He is an Honorary Fellow of
the Royal Photographic Society. |

Mr. Anwaruzzaman serving as a Multimedia Executive at Drik

in 1997 as a Web Page Developer. Basically he is a man of

of Bangladesh. A former British Chevening Scholar(1999-2000)
KABIR heads Dhaka based centre for studies on human rights
law -'LAW WATCH'. He is also an Executive Member of Odhikar,
a coalition for human rights. Currently he is coordinating
a training programme for the grass root human rights defenders
in Bangladesh in accordance with the UN Human Rights Defenders'
Declaration.

Literature from Dhaka Univerisity. Through his school debate
program in Bangladesh, Mostafa Shiblee is cultivating and
educating the minds of young students, encouraging them to
become constructively involved in their community, and gradually
in their country. Shiblee believes that debate ignites the
imagination, enthusiasm, and curiosity of the students, encouraging
them to read and learn more, boldly express their opinions
and ideas on various topics, and become more sure about themselves
and their civic responsibilities. Through the organization
he founded, Working for Better Life, Shiblee works in 60 high
schools as of June, 2001.
